About Chiara

Chiara Capony is a Filipina artist who has lived in Paris, Annecy, and Manila since 2016. While Brussels currently serves as her permanent residence, her artistic pursuits frequently lead her to explore new places. She draws inspiration from her surroundings, prompting her to constantly adapt and evolve her artistic style.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines in 2007, but only pursued her artistic practice many years later. Her journey as a full-time artist began during the pandemic—a time in which she found herself in a period of profound self-reflection, leading her to rekindle her passion for the arts. Since then, she has dedicated herself full-time to painting, allowing her art to reflect the intricacies of her own life journey. Her travels have broadened her perspective, enriching her works with diverse influences and experiences.

Her meticulously detailed pieces on paper and canvas feature carefully curated subjects, often blurring the lines of realism with a touch of surrealism. Her works are largely recognized for her bold use of color and finely executed brushwork. She likes to use a variety of mediums such as oil, acrylics and watercolors, dedicating significant time and effort to each artwork. While her pieces may initially appear photorealistic, Chiara endeavors to interpret them with an ethereal quality. Her intention is to capture human emotion and depict a more colorful, transcendent dimension towards the subjects she portrays.
